What is Join Parkinson’s Research?
JPR@Research+Me is a new online national registry which aims to shape the future of Parkinson’s research by connecting people living with Parkinson’s in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to research opportunities they may be interested in.
If you live in Scotland, registering with the Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network Registry is the best way to hear about local Parkinson’s research opportunities near you: Patient Signup Form | NHS Research Scotland | NHS Research Scotland
If you sign up to JPR@Research+Me, you will be sent information about research studies that you may be eligible for based on the information you enter at registration, related to your Parkinson’s or other conditions you might have.
If you are interested in a study and want to find out more, you can register your interest and give permission for researchers from that study to reach out to you. Some studies may ask for some additional information to confirm whether you are potentially eligible to participate.

Why are registries important?
Many people with Parkinson’s miss out on research because opportunities can be hard to find or difficult to access. At the same time, researchers can struggle to find the right people for studies, which can cause delays and slow progress.
JPR@Research+Me helps solve both of these problems by making it easier for people with Parkinson’s to connect with research opportunities and for researchers to reach suitable participants.
Who is behind the registry?
JPR@Research+Me has been developed through a collaboration between Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle University and University College London. This collaboration has been led by Professor Yan Yiannakou and Professor Camille Carroll, and has involved people living with Parkinson’s throughout the process. Hear from Professor Carroll in the video below, about why JPR@Research+Me is so important.
