An ostomy is a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the abdominal wall to allow waste to leave the body. The opening is called a stoma.
This study is looking at how a new ostomy device can improve the lives of people who have had an ostomy. The study will investigate whether the devices can reduce the number of leakage incidents, and whether they can improve participants’ body image and self confidence.
You might be able to take part if you
- have had an end or loop colostomy or ileostomy
- have had your stoma for 12 months or more
Taking part in the study involves two one-hour consultations, which can be online via video call or in person. You will receive a new ostomy device, which you will be asked to wear for four weeks. You will also be invited to complete a number of surveys throughout the study about your stoma and your health.
It is your decision on whether to take part in this study and you are free to withdraw at any point. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact [email protected].
