Improving Black Health Outcomes (IBHO)

The IBHO project focusses on health conditions which affect UK Black communities, aiming to improve our understanding of these and support the development of better treatments.

Did you know that Black communities are at higher risk for health conditions like Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, and certain Cancers, such as Prostate and Breast Cancer? By joining our IBHO research, you can help us better understand how these and other health conditions develop and specifically affect those from Black Communities. Your participation will also support efforts to create more effective treatments and improve healthcare outcomes.

Who can take part?

  • People aged 16+
  • From any Black ethnic background
  • Whether they have a health condition or not
  • Individuals diagnosed with Sickle Cell or Thalassaemia, regardless of their ethnic background.

What’s Involved:

  • Donate a blood or saliva sample
  • Complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire
  • Provide consent for your data and samples to be used in research
